Pete is a Pistol

For those of you that did not already know, Kevin and I got a new puppy a few weeks ago. As if we need more to do, right? He is a doll and has become the new entertainment in our lives. His name is Pete and he is a Boxer/Lab mix that we adopted from the Tulsa Boxer Rescue Foundation. We picked him up in Stroud on the same day that we got home from a trip to Chicago and he has been a trip since then. We really wanted a new puppy and when Kevin found Pete and his litter mates on a website he declared that we had to get one! Kevin came up with the name and it suits Pete very well. He is all black with a spot of white on his chest, his back feet, and right under his bottom lip. He looks most like a boxer and we are very anxious to see what he will look like when he gets bigger.
He gets along with Sophie quite well although it did take a little while for her to warm up to him and he seems to get along with my parents dog even better. We thought that it would be a good idea to get Sophie a freind now that she is older and especially because the baby will be here soon and will take up much of our attention. He is truly a daddy's puppy! I have never seen a dog become so excited about seeing someone as Pete gets when Kevin comes home from work. He loves to chase and pounce and will eat anything that he can get his teeth on.
I am so glad that he came to be with us and I am very excited that he will grow up with our baby! I will post a picture as soon as possible, unfortunately all the pictures that we have taken are on mom and dad's camera. I'll get one up soon!

A post for Matthew

So, it has be brought to my attention, by the people that love me the most :) that I have been slacking off on my blogging duties. Seeing as how I have many people out of the town of Tulsa that need updating on our exciting lives, I thought that it might be time I clue everyone in.
Most of the reason that I have not been faithful to this thing is the overwhelming test that I had to prepare for and take on Friday. One of the hoops that I have to jump through in order to graduate with my degree is spending an entire day in a room with other potential graduates pecking away at a computer to answer questions that cover material we have learned throughout the entire program. I have spent the last month preparing for this test and to my surprise and relief, it was not nearly as bad as I had made it out to be! It should be 4-5 weeks before I get the results and if I pass then the only thing I have left to complete before graduation in December is an independent reading with one of my professors. So, I'm one step closer to the end of the road, thank God!
I plan on adding to this blog each day this week so that I can catch everyone up on all that has been going on. Check back for more fun news! Love ya all......Jess

No News is Good News

Hey everyone! Sorry that it has taken so long to updates, but I have been out of town for a few days and Kevin has been busy with work. Mom and I went away on Monday for a little girls week in Branson. She and apparently alot of other people thought that I needed to get away and try to relax a bit for the sake of the baby. We spent our time in Branson relaxing by the pool, shopping, and sleeping. That is a facinating town, not at all what I expected. It's a bit like Las Vegas for the country folk. We had a great time, encountered some interesting situations, and saw some neat stuff. I would like to publicly thank my mom for being so good to me and spending the week with me, not to mention willingly going to the Titanic museum that I wanted to see! Thanks also to my dad and my hubby for holding the fort down at home!
Before we left for Branson, I had another Dr's appointment just to check and se how things are going. The Dr said that the baby looks good and is growing a little bit ahead of schedule, which is normal. The heartbeat is strong and so far this is a healthy pregnancy. I am able to feel the little one now and if the movement inside is anything like the movement outside will be, Kevin and I are going to have our hands full! Kevin has been able to feel it moving around also. It is such an amazing thing!! We are still trying to decide exactly what we want to do for the nursery and have come up with some very cute ideas, but we have to finish the enormous project in the kitchen first. It looks like painting will begin this weekend and I am crossing my fingers that we can be totally finished by Labor Day weekend.
I started sending out information to schools around Tulsa in hopes of gaining new tutoring clients, we shall see how this whole endeavor goes. I am going to present my portfolio of work I have done through my graduate program to a panel of professors and peers on Thursday and if all goes well I will be one step closer to finishing this degree. I have to take compositional exams in September, so the majority of that month will be spent studying.
So, as you can see things are pretty normal around here. I will catch up more later and will have KP drop a line. Peace, Jess

Drumroll....Kevin and Jess' baby is a....

Very healthy baby that is still expected to arrive on the 25th of December! We went in for the big ultra sound today to see the baby and check it's growth. The tech said that everything looks great and that the baby is within normal ranges in all areas. We fought the great temptation to find out what we are having, stuck with our original plan and decided that it should be a surprise. The tech said that she did not even look to see what it is so it will not be written in our chart and even the doctor will not know. So, it will be a Christmas surprise for everyone! It was a thrilling experience to see our baby so clearly and to know that everything is going as planned. The baby spent most of the time sucking on one of its fingers and posing for the camera, so we got a few really good shots. We think that we are sold on names so that is one less thing that we have to worry about now. Yeah! Just wanted to let everyone know that things went well and that we have a very healthy baby and are already turning out to be very proud parents! Peace, Jess

A Little Update for Those in Need of Information

Well hello everyone,
I have finally finished with school and am slowly moving into a normal life again. I finished my summer classes and am so happy that this experience is over! I have one more class to take in the fall. By fault of my own and my advisor, I have to be enrolled in the fall semester in order to take my compositional finals and present my portfolio of all the work I have completed in the program. I will be doing a directed study under the professor that I had for my July classes. she is a lovely lady, very intelligent, and very funny! I don't expect that the study will be too complicated.
I am in the process of getting my information for the tutoring business out and about and am shamelessly using people that I know to spread the word. I have a few clients right now, but would really feel more secure if I could get about 5. If anybody knows of a child that needs help...please let me know. See, another shameless plea!
Mom and dad are having a garage sale this weekend and Kevin and I are going to put many things in it in order to clean out the house. We have to make as much room as possible for the coming arrival. Kevin has been working so hard on the kitchen and we are so close to being finished. Yesterday was spent grouting and cleaning. The tile looks beautiful now and the bar that he built is going to be so great for eating in the kitchen! We have to move on to the baby's room next and are in the process of choosing colors and a style to decorate. We bought a book yesterday to help and I think that we might have found a great idea, but it is a little "off the wall!" It might not be the final choice, but it is different and would work for a boy or a girl. On that note, the name game is becoming a fun one. Thanks for the suggestions those of you have offered. It is going to be a matter of each of us making a list of favorites and then negotiating. We'll let all of you know when a decision is made.
We go in for our next ultra sound this thursday and we will get to see the baby! Hopefully it is healthy and happy! For those of you holding out on a change of mind, the answer is still "No" we are not going to find out what it is. As long as it is healthy, that is all that matters!
I think that you are all caught up on most of what is going on. I'll try to be more faithful to this thing, since I did create it and have to keep everyone up to date.
I wish you all a peaceful day! Jess

Don't call it a comeback

A certain someone reminded me that I did not post on the blog this week. Thanks TC. I was busy tiling the new bar in the kitchen. Better late than never.

Last week was another busy one. The only thing of real significance that happened was that Jess and I went to the doc for a checkup. Baby and momma are doing great. Very strong heartbeat. We go back in about three weeks for the next ultrasound. We are still not going to find out the sex of the baby... much to the dislike of many. The arrival date is sneaking up and my excitement level is building.

The new machine is running except for a certain G Code issue we are having. The machine and control are so new that the bugs are still be worked out. Not sure if that is good or bad.

Jess' bro and fiance left this morning. They had a quick visit here in Tulsa then continued on to Cali. It was good to get together with everyone. Eveyone needs to live closer together.

Jess is done with school for the summer and will concentrate on tutoring for awhile. Not much else to say. Maybe something exciting will happen this weekend.

Have a good Friday.

How is everyone? The week went by so fast. I went to the doc for my back. got some meds and I am now feeling better. Jess has about gotten her ear taken care of but can not seem to get enough rest. Schoolwork, tutoring and taking care of herself is wearing her out. Not that I mind, I could use the sleep. July will end her cram for school, for the most part. She has a little work to finish on the fall.

A good friend of mine lost her mother last Friday. The funeral was on Monday in Stillwater. It was a nice service. She and her father are having a hard time but are making it. Jess and I care for our friend very much and wish comfort for her at this time.

So, I missed a good part of the workday on Monday. We bought a new machine a couple of weeks ago. I had it up and going last Tuesday but due to a software error, it has been down since then. The long and short of it was that the service tech tried to download some new software. The download was somehow corrupt and crashed the system. After a week of being down and all options exhausted, Daewoo sent a someone from Korea. I felt bad for him. He received a phone call on Friday at 4PM, was told that he had 45 minutes to catch a flight to Tulsa and somehow ended up in OKC. So, only knowing a few sentences in English, had to give his cell phone to someone in OKC to tell us where he was. That was late Friday and he showed up on Saturday morning. What no one could fix in over a week, he had taken care of in 2 hours. Of course I am sure it helped that he was one of the machine designers. I then told him a couple of machine flaws that I had experienced so far (a little background... This is the first machine of its kind in operation anywhere close) and he kindly listened and said he would get to work on it on Monday. When he was done he showed us pictures of his family. You could tell he was proud. I then tried to explain to him that I had one on the way. It was an exhausting conversation but finally he understood and congratulated me. He was then off to lunch and the airport to return home. Thanks for the help Kim.

It is hot here in Tulsa, I mean HOT! Jess' bro will be in town a week from Monday. If I were him I would avoid Tulsa, but then again, once at the parents' household he will probably need a coat. Against the wishes of her husband and my wife, the mother-in-law and I keep things f***ing cold. Who wants to sweat in their own house?

I leave with a quick baby update: the kitchen is in shambles, I have not started on the baby room and for some reason the To Do List has reached a been pushed to the bottom of the stack. With less than 5 months to go, I suppose I should get busy.

Have a good week!

Another week down

Jess and I started counting the months for the due date of the baby and realized that maybe the doc may be incorrect. From out calculations the baby should arrive sometime the first week of December instead of Christmas day. Jess is going to clarify this at our next check up.

We attended a nice wedding last night of some friends of ours. Jess was one of the bridesmaids and she looked amazing in her dress. Of course she always does. The couple getting married were surounded by alot of family and friends whom you could tell supported and loved them very much. It was apparent that they cared for each other very much and that the marriage will be a happy one.

Jess had an ear infection this week. She went to the doc and got some meds and is doing better. Other than that she is healthy.

Got up this morning to a note left on our car. The note was printed off the internet and was a fabricated conversation between God and St. Francis. The down and dirty of it was how I take care of my yard. I googled it and found it... read for yourself. I think people should mind their own damn business and not touch my car. I hope for their sake I do not find out who they are. At least I take care of my yard and house which is more than I can say for some on my block.

On a side bar we have still not agreed on a boys name for the baby. We have a few ideas but cannot come to an agreement. The girls name has been decided. For those of you not keeping up , we have decided to wait and be surprised on the sex of the baby.

Well, another week down and another begins!

KPs first blog

Its the middle of the week but it feels like Monday. I am sure many experienced this today. Over the holiday Jess and I scratched another task off of our baby to do list. I also built a pantry closet in the kitchen. It is still in progress. Once it is done I can build the bar and paint. Then it is on to the baby room. I am excited about that.

I pulled something in my back whilst working in the backyard so I am a little gimpy. A new machine came in at work today and Chuck went home sick first thing this morning. So needless to say, I did not get much done.

Jess is in a wedding this weekend. She has a lot going on between school, tutoring, studying and trying to maintain her health for the baby. Not to mention taking care of me. Next weekend we will be going on a lake trip with some friends. Should be a good time.

I will sign off for now and stop with the rambling...

Welcome to our blog

So, this blog has been created because I had to for one of my graduate classes. I thought that it might also serve as a good way for Kevin and I to keep everybody updated on the baby and on how things are going. We are going to share the blog so that we can both post news and try to keep this thing somewhat entertaining. I'll do my best to keep up with it, but for now thanks for taking a peek at it!
